'Alma Seca' is the debut solo single from Juanita Euka. As well as being the niece of Congolese rumba legend Franco, she has worked some great bands in recent years including Wara, London Afrobeat Collective and Aminanz.
"'Alma Seca' means 'dry soul'. It's a heartbreak song from personal experience but with a hopeful tone," Juanita explains. "I wanted to do a song with an old Afro-Cuban feel to it; I enjoy drawing on older music styles and bringing them into my vibe." The track has just been featured in the new series of 'Killing Eve' and Juanita's debut album is on the way in early 2021 on Strut.
